Carlo Di Nardo graduated from the Department of Physical Therapy, in the Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto in 1998. Since then, he has spent the past 12 years practicing physical therapy in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine. Carlo has excelled in his studies, constantly seeking advanced skills and training in manual therapy, soft tissue treatment, core stability, movement analysis, and strength and conditioning. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to work with professional, amateur and recreational athletes in the sports of soccer, hockey, baseball, running, triathlon, lacrosse, dance, squash, volleyball, football and rowing.

Prior to 2008, Carlo Di Nardo was Director of Physiotherapy, Clinic Director and part-owner of Athlete's Care Sports Medicine Centres — a network of four sports medicine clinics. He was involved with program development, direct patient care, on-field medical event coverage, physiotherapy staff mentorship and training. In January 2008, Carlo pursued a new venture to create a sports medicine facility committed to a more advanced level of treatment, based on a more current concept and stream of elite level care.

Through the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, Carlo has undergone extensive training in hands-on manual therapy treatment and rehabilitation of the upper extremities, lower extremities, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He has a keen interest in pelvic dysfunction and leg length discrepancies. He has achieved accreditation in Active Release Techniques® and Graston Technique® - effective treatment tools used to break down scar tissue, promote tissue flexibility and release associated nerve entrapments. As a complement to this treatment, Carlo practices Kinesio®Taping – a therapeutic approach to improve muscle activation, decrease swelling and inhibit muscle spasm. He continued his orthopedic training through the Mulligan Concept, a series of mobilization techniques used to increase range of motion and enhance joint lubrication. As an adjunct to manual therapy, Carlo attended McMaster University to become certified in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, which he has been practicing for the past 7 years.

As an orthotist, Carlo is fully trained in custom orthotic fitting. He has a strong interest in fitting orthotics for runners and athletes in different sports such as hockey, golf, soccer and baseball. Carlo has become very proficient in assessing foot biomechanics and determining different treatment strategies to help clients retrain their lower leg, foot and ankle. Your foot assessment will always be complemented with individualized gait video analysis.

Carlo Di Nardo is currently a Fellow of Applied Functional Science through the Gary Gray Institute in Michigan, USA. The Gray Institute is currently leading the field of strength and conditioning through its concepts in functional retraining, sport specific training, core stability and movement awareness. He enjoys motion analysis and has become FITforeGOLF™ Certified − a program committed to golf conditioning and biomechanical stroke assessment. Carlo has taken this analysis one step further by incorporating Dartfish Video Analysis into his practice. This has become very exciting as incredible movement detail can now be captured digitally, something quite impossible for the naked eye. Carlo has brought Dartfish into the clinical setting as a teaching and evaluation tool for thorough assessment of athletic postures, motions and normal movements, such as running, squatting and walking.

Carlo is a Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and an Executive Member of Sport Physiotherapy Ontario. As well, Carlo takes pride in his position as a Clinical Tutor for the University of Toronto Department of Physical Therapy. Carlo has worked as physiotherapist on-field with the Vaughan Soccer Club, North York Hearts-Azzurri Soccer Club and the York Simcoe Express AAA Bantam Hockey Club. Carlo is the Physiotherapist & Trainer with the Toronto Red Wings AAA Midget Hockey Club and was most recently the Head Physiotherapist for the Toronto FC Soccer Academy.
